Sit down, because we're about to work the smallest, most stubborn muscle group in your entire body — your calf. And we're going to do it one leg at a time, because fairness matters, even to your ankles. Place a raised block on the floor about a foot in front of a flat bench. Take a seat on the bench and rest a weight on your upper thigh, just above the knee cap. Yes, it'll feel weird. Yes, it'll want to roll off. Hold it there — this is your load, and your calf is going to earn every rep.
Place the ball of that same-side foot on the block so your heel hangs off the edge. This is your starting stance, and from here, the range of motion is beautifully simple: push your heel as high as it can possibly go, rising onto the ball of your foot like you're trying to peek over a fence at a concert. Squeeze the calf hard at the top — really grind that contraction like you're trying to wring the last drop out of a sponge.
Then lower slowly, letting that heel sink below the level of the block until you feel a deep stretch through the back of your lower leg. That stretch is non-negotiable — it's where the real resilience gets built.
Finish every single rep on one leg before switching. By the time you're done, walking up stairs will feel like a personal challenge, but that burn is the receipt that proves you did the work.
