Imagine you're a knight who's just been handed the holy grail, except the grail is a kettlebell and instead of drinking from it, you're going to squat with it like your kingdom depends on it. You stand tall, cradling that kettlebell by its horns right up against your chest, like it's the most precious item you've ever held. Which, after about ten reps, it will genuinely feel like it is.
Now drop it like it's hot — well, not literally, you're still holding it — sink down between your legs until the back of your thighs are resting on your calves. Keep that chest puffed out, head up, and spine straighter than your posture on a job interview. At the bottom of the movement, pause for a hot second and use your elbows to shove your knees outward. Think of your elbows as diplomatic negotiators, gently but firmly convincing your knees that wider is better.
Then drive back up through your heels and return to standing, feeling every ounce of effort your legs just contributed to this noble endeavor. Do this for ten to twenty reps, and by the end, your thighs will have earned a certificate of participation in the school of hard knocks. It's simple, it's elegant, and it'll make your quads feel like they just ran a marathon inside a phone booth.
