The Iron-Holding Deep Sit with Pride SCAN DEPTH: 100%

Mechanism · Protocol Notes

Welcome to the people's champion of lower-body training — the squat, done with weights in your hands instead of balanced on your back. Stand tall, a weight in each mitt, arms hanging by your sides with palms facing your legs. Set your feet about shoulder-width apart, toes pointed just slightly outward. Pick a spot on the wall at eye level and stare at it for the entire set — if you look down, your back will round, and if your back rounds, your spine will send you a very strongly worded email.

Begin the descent by pushing your hips back and bending at the knees, keeping your chest lifted like you're proud of every inch of this journey. Sink down until your thighs run parallel to the floor — or deeper if your mobility allows, but parallel is the benchmark. Here's the critical checkpoint: your knees should track in line with your toes. If they cave inward like they're trying to whisper secrets to each other, that's a problem. Push them outward over the toes.

From the bottom, drive upward through your heels, straightening the legs and returning to standing. Exhale on the way up like you're blowing out birthday candles. Inhale on the way down. Keep the tempo steady and the spine neutral.

Repeat for the prescribed reps and prepare for a leg session that will make sitting down tomorrow an adventure in humility.
